EPCs, and the minimum standard that comes with them
An EPC isn't just a rating on a certificate: since 2018 it's been the line between a let you can offer and one you can't.
What it covers
- The rating scale. EPCs run from A to G.
- The legal minimum. Unlawful to let below E in England & Wales since 2018.
- Certificate validity. An EPC is valid for 10 years.
- The minimum may rise. Government is considering raising the minimum standard from E to C.
HOW IT WORKS
How Yuno supports you
Step 1
Identify
See which properties have expiring EPCs, low ratings or require attention.
Step 2
Assess
Understand the current EPC position and what's preventing the property reaching the required or desired standard.
Step 3
Plan
Build a practical improvement roadmap, based on the property, likely impact and priorities.
Step 4
Improve
Access the route to appropriate energy-efficiency works, through accredited contractors matched to the scope.
Step 5
Monitor
Track EPC status, documentation and future requirements across the property or portfolio.
Assess before you spend
Energy upgrades can mean significant cost. Yuno evaluates insulation, windows and heating systems before any spend is committed, so you understand what's actually required and what makes sense for the property first: not the most expensive option, the appropriate one.
What every energy strategy should include
EPC reviews and upgrade plans
Assess the current EPC and build a roadmap to C or above, aligned to MEES and future regulation.
Retrofit assessments
Evaluate insulation, windows and heating systems before any spend is committed.
Funding and grant mapping
Identify and help apply for applicable schemes: the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, the Energy Company Obligation, the Warm Homes Grant, and relevant VAT relief.
Supply chain matching
Connect with accredited contractors and materials suited to the scope and budget.
Compliance monitoring
Track upgrade progress and documentation through the Yuno platform.
Landlord and agent energy advice
Personalised guidance on options and timelines.
An EPC shows the position. Improvement changes it.
EPC
Shows the property's current energy-efficiency rating: the position, not the fix.
Energy improvement
Addresses the physical factors behind that rating (insulation, windows, heating) and what Yuno helps identify, prioritise and access support for.
